I was raised in Ellisville, Mississippi by a family overflowing with storytellers, teachers, preachers, and builders. So I know a good story, a moral teaching, and a solid foundation when I see one. My professional life as a pediatric physical therapist has given me many opportunities to use all of the skills I picked up as a child. I received my B.S. in physical therapy from the University of Florida. Yes, Daddy wanted me to attend the University of Mississippi because it was cheaper and closer.
I grew up in the First Baptist Church and was there every time the doors were open. Mama was the church secretary for years and I’ve seen the church from both the front side and the back side. I accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior at the age of nine, but some of what I experienced on the back side of the church led to anger and disillusionment. After Rolando and I adopted our two sons, I rededicated myself to God and now serve in the children’s ministry at Hillcrest Baptist Church.
God called me to begin creative writing in 2008. Dabbling in poetry, songwriting, and puppetry, I’ve always written with a heart for children and families. Lately, I’ve headed into inspirational pieces, magazine articles, and am completing a book of faith lessons.
I live in Pensacola, FL with my husband of 34 years and our dogs, Bandit and Rusty. Our sons, Sam and David, are almost grown and out on their own.
