The Fear Merchants

Reporter Bob Woodward has a new book out. The title tells you all you need to know about what he’s selling–FEAR.

I’ve caught a few interviews he’s had and one thing old Bob said caught my attention amongst the drivel, “People need to wake up to what’s going on.”

Bob makes the case in his book that Trump is a novice. Really, Bob? Did we need you to tell us that? Did anybody in America NOT know that? He writes that sources tell him Trump doesn’t trust government officials? Would you, Bob? The track record isn’t too good right now. Have you not been keeping up with the Strzok/Page texts?

Later, I saw Bob’s FEAR book is the fastest selling title in Simon & Schuster’s (his publisher) history, selling 750,000 copies (hardcover, ebook, and audio) on the first day. Apparently, there’s a lot of people out there who lap up fear like a drug–seeking another hit of adrenaline or confirmation we’re all going to die because Trump, the novice, is in charge. I have to give old Bob credit, he knows his audience, and it’s big.

While I’ll not recount how the economy is booming under the management of a novice or how our enemies suddenly respect us again, my thoughts today are to remind us to discern the motives behind the messenger.

I get it. Many people, those people Simon & Schuster knew would buy Bob’s message, are afraid of Trump and those who voted for him. They cringe at what America will be like if those people (#thedeplorables) are in charge. We hear their primal screams, read their vile tweets, and cover our ears because it’s too much.

Our American politics are no longer about an honest exchange of ideas or a respectful back-and-forth interaction. Those days were gone before Trump.

We’ve been lied to for years. We’ve been called #thedeplorables. We’ve been walked on by the fear merchants (Dems and Reps, aka globalists) who want to keep their power.

Trump is a warrior. He was hired to go to war for those who voted for him. He uses words as weapons (name calling, character assassination, labeling,) against those who perfected those tactics. He’s in the mud with them and, here’s what they fear most, he’s beating them at their own game.

While we have our own conclusions about American public discourse, let me close by saying the fear merchants may sell tons of books, get the most clicks, catch the larger audience, but they don’t win the ultimate game.

And, Trump won’t either. He’s here for a time and a purpose. Maybe that purpose is to level the playing field so the name of God can remain in the public square of America. Maybe Trump is here to fight for Bibles to remain in our public schools or that believers of the Way can get a fair shake in the land of the free and the home of the brave. Many believe he’s here to move the judiciary to the right.

I don’t know. But I do know that when Trump is gone, the fear merchants will find some more fear to sell. If Trump is impeached, they’ll tell us Pence is the devil. It’ll never end.

#thedeplorables discerned Trump’s heart was in the right place and they bet on him. They sniffed out who they most trusted and it was a novice. A man whose friends (I use that term loosely) instantly turned on him and sold their deceptions and deceit to the highest bidder.

I wonder what Bob is going to do with all his money? Will he donate it to scholarships for inner-city youth? Will he set up a food bank or a free medical clinic?

Maybe. But, I think he’ll buy a bigger house in the Hamptons where he can summer with Simon and Schuster, sip a few too many bourbons on the breezy deck of a yacht, and make fun of the #deplorables.

Be wary of those selling fear, friends. Always seek to discern their motives. Always.

Love y’all,

Ginny

P.S. Jesus wins the ultimate battle and it is written on the pages of the best-selling book of all time. You guessed it–the Bible. Top that, Bob!

P.S.S. Jesus didn’t sell fear. He gave away love.

“…He will bring to light what is hidden in darkness and will expose the motives of men’s hearts. At that time each will receive his praise from God.” 1 Corinthians 4:5
